Symptoms of Stress

Stress in life is about as certain as death and taxes. It comes from a variety of sources including careers, finances and relationships. Whether you're just dealing with the "stressor of the day" or you experience chronic and ongoing stress, you're likely to begin showing some stress symptoms. So, how do you know when you're dealing with too much stress to the point that it's unhealthy? Here are a few symptoms of too much stress.
Headaches
There are specific types of headaches that are related to stress; specifically the tension headache is the most common type of headache. If you're experiencing more and more headaches, stress is most likely the culprit behind them. Tension headaches involve both sides of the head and usually feel like tightness across the forehead and on the back of the neck.
Frequent Colds or Flu
If you're really stressed out, your immune system doesn't function properly. Stress debilitates your body's ability to fight off viruses and a bacterium, which means you become sick much more easily when under stress.
Sleep Problems
Too much stress may wear you out, but it doesn't let you get sleep. "No sleep for the weary" is definitely the case for people under immense stress and it robs your sleep of the restoration it should provide your body as well.
Anxiety
Anxiety is an important component when you're in a life or death situation, but if you feel anxious all of the time it’s usually due to the fact that you have too many things stressing you out in life. Anxiety may also indicate that you have deeper, medical problems such as generalized anxiety disorder.
Fuzzy Thinking
If you can't think straight, then you're body is probably rushing hormones through your body to the point that you can't think properly.
Feelings of Frustration
If you're faced with many demands all at once, the natural result from many people is increased irritability and frustration. The trick is to find ways to prevent frustration and to calm down quickly.
Decreased Libido
Stress has more of an effect on you than you realize, as it has an effect on libido as well. If you're too tired from stress to have sex, then you don't want have sex. If you can't seem to find the time for your partner, then this is most likely due to stress as well.
These are just a few of the symptoms that stress can bring out in your body and mind. If you're experiencing any of these symptoms in your life and you believe they may be stress related, then you may wish to take a stress test to determine the level of stress that you are under.
